Inspiration through Art

Best Blogger Tips
Pin It One of the best things about being a photographer is being able to give something back to the community by using your profession.
There are so many ways..so many organizations needing help.

Most of us generally choose something that holds some personal meaning for us.
Last year I joined in with It's a Preemie Thing and donated a free family photo session to a lucky winner of their contest locally.
I also set up Christmas mini sessions to raise money for the Eastside Domestic Violence Program. 50% of my session profits went to that organization.

This year I'm starting out with Inspiration Through Art (formerly the Littlest Heroes Project). I had applied and been accepted a few years ago, but when they revamped the name and website...somehow things got lost in the shuffle!
Here's their mission statement on the website:

"Our mission at Inspiration Through Art is to help provide and capture memories for families who are dealing with hectic schedules due to having a child who is suffering from a serious illness or life altering disability. We are here to offer emotional support through the beauty and expression art has to offer, as a way of healing and coping. We understand that in the midst of being thrown a diagnosis and having to switch from a “normal” life to a life that is totally different, and often scary, things like getting photos taken is sometimes a huge challenge and is one of the last things families are thinking about. But when everything is done, and either the child has reached the end of their battle, or has proven the odds against it many wish they had more time to stop, and capture the journey that they lived through for so long. Through Inspiration Through Art- our photographers and volunteers understand each and every case, and cater it to fit and honor each child and family. Our photographers are on hand to travel to homes, hospitals, clinics, fundraisers, and benefits to help capture your child’s journey in a “Day in the life” sort of style and work personally one on one with your child and entire family to get those special family photos and moments that you can cherish for years to come."

I'm really excited to be a part of this organization! I think it will be so inspiring and worthwhile. Hopefully the occasional family will contact me and I'll have the privilege of giving them some unforgettable memories.

If you are a photographer, consider having a look at the website and joining as well. If you are a family in need, or know someone that is.....send them to the website too.

Beautiful Black & White

Best Blogger Tips
Pin It Time to get another post up for an I Heart Faces photo challenge!  Tamron USA is sponsoring the March 2012 “Beautiful Black & White” I Heart Faces Photo Challenge, and they are giving a Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 lens  to the winner. I sure would like one of those!
So here's my black and white submission for this month. I did about 10 different variations of a black and white edit for this image, and decided I liked this one the best. I just sat for awhile staring at this image.... drawn into her eyes! I wasn't sure how much I would like it in black and white, because her eyes are the most incredible green, but I do, and hope you do too:)

So now, head on over to the contest and look at some of the other entries.

New products- iphone case

Best Blogger Tips
Pin It I'm always excited to be able to share new products to offer to clients, and these iphone cases are just perfect for a fun add on to your order!
Currently I'm ordering from 2 different labs, and they make them for the iphone 4 or 4s. I'm continuing to search for other options for different phone models, but at this time if you have either of these models, you can add a case like this with your print order.

Here's the session that goes with this case!
